Venue: YPP National Secretariat, Abuja

The Young Progressives Party (YPP) has commenced the official screening of all Chairmanship and Councillorship aspirants for the upcoming 2026 FCT Area Council Elections.

The screening, which began today at the YPP National Secretariat, was conducted by the party’s National Screening Committee. It included verification of eligibility, party loyalty, and leadership readiness.

Aspirants from all six Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory — Abaji, Abuja Municipal, Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kuje, and Kwali — were present. Those who met the party’s criteria were issued official Screening Certificates, clearing them for participation in the upcoming YPP primaries.

“This process upholds our values. We are not just preparing candidates — we are nurturing a new generation of servant-leaders,” said a committee representative.

The screening will continue tomorrow, 28th June 2025, to accommodate all outstanding aspirants. All screenings are in accordance with the Electoral Act (2010, as amended) and INEC guidelines.

The YPP primary elections for the FCT Area Councils will follow shortly. The party remains committed to credible, people-oriented leadership at all levels of governance.

“We are here to build a system that works for the people — and that starts from the grassroots,” said a member of the YPP National Executive.

With transparency, service, and community at its core, YPP continues to stand out as Nigeria’s fastest-growing political alternative.
