Young Progressive Party was formed in line with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), , founded by people of like-minds upon social democratic principles and inclusive governance, to provide a veritable platform for all Nigerians irrespective of tribe and religion.
The Young Progressives Party was registered as a political party in Nigeria on 7th June, 2017 having fulfillled all necessary conditions for registeration as a political party.
The party, which started as a political association in 2016 later metamorphorsed into a movement in 2017 on the strength of collective sacrifice by young individuals motivated by the need for Nigeria to effectively respond to the global craving to provide leadership for the African continent; a true and visionary leadership founded upon social democratic principles and inclusive governance having identified the huge deficit in leadership capital and the need to bridge same.
Having survived colonial shocks, the disorganization of the civil society by incessant military rule and a purported civil rule by tyrannical leadership, Nigeria truly deserves a people oriented government devoid of tribal or sectional politics, which is committed to a more equitable distribution of socio-economic opportunities through the implementation of impactful policies and plans for rapid socio-economic development.
Under the able leadership of the pioneer and current Chairman, Comrade Bishop Amakiri, the party has been able to set up a formidable structure in all the 36 States of the Federation including the FCT with a membership and volunteer strength of over 3 million thereby making us one of fastest growing political parties in Nigeria.
We belief that it is time for a generational shift in leadership and this revolution must be driven by highly cerebral, mentally progressive and young innovative leaders without greed if Nigeria must truly live up to her full potentials and take up her rightful place of leadership in Africa.
The aggressive quest for a shift in our leadership paradigm in Nigeria birthed Prof. Kingsley Moghalu who went through the strict leadership vetting machinery of the party to emerge as the Presidential flag-bearer for the 2019 Presidential election at the inaugural convention of our great party. This epitome of a new, different, bold and innovative kind of leadership has since heralded a new wave of massive support base among the youth demographic group who are tired of the current status quo.
