YPP RISES IN FCT: New Aspirants, New Members, and a Renewed Grassroots Vision
“We are raising a new breed of leaders — leaders without greed.”
— Comr. Bishop Amakiri, National Chairman, YPP
The atmosphere at the National Secretariat of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) was filled with renewed hope and determination as aspirants for the upcoming FCT Area Council Elections converged to pick up their Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms for Chairmanship and Councillorship positions.
In what can best be described as a surge of trust in YPP’s vision, several new members also officially defected from other political parties to join the progressive movement that has been gaining steady momentum nationwide.
A Movement Anchored in People-Driven Leadership
Addressing the gathering, YPP National Chairman, Comrade Bishop Amakiri, delivered a rousing charge that stirred the hearts of all present. He encouraged the YPP FCT Chairman and his Executive Council to intensify efforts at grassroots mobilization and ensure that the core message of the party — “Service to the People” — is carried into every ward, every home, and every heart.
“We are not here to build just another party. We are building a movement of transformation. One built on justice, service, and sacrifice,” he said.
Leadership Without Greed: A New Breed is Rising
Comrade Amakiri reemphasized the vision and mission of YPP: to raise a new breed of leaders — not driven by greed or self-interest, but by the burden to serve and build a better Nigeria. He spoke passionately about the urgent need for responsible leadership at the grassroots, stating:
“We don’t just need leaders from the grassroots — we need leaders with conscience, leaders who listen, who serve, who carry people along.”
In his address, he highlighted YPP’s unprecedented growth:
- From 0% to 50% national visibility
- Victory at various levels of public office except Governorship and Presidency
- Rising influence in both urban centers and remote communities
Ownership. Responsibility. Unity.
Bishop Amakiri called on all aspirants to adopt the spirit of ownership and community building.
“Let the people see themselves in you. Leadership comes with responsibility. Carry people along. Own the vision with your heart and your hands. That’s the spirit of YPP.”
He encouraged aspirants not only to pursue victory at the polls but to commit themselves to the values that distinguish the YPP from other political platforms.
A New Chapter for the FCT, A New Dawn for Nigeria
The event marked more than the collection of forms — it was a statement of intent, a sign that YPP is not just growing, but transforming Nigeria’s political culture from the ground up.
As more progressives continue to join the party, and as credible aspirants step forward, the YPP remains unwavering in its mission to redefine politics as a tool for service, not self-enrichment.
The countdown to the FCT Council Elections has begun — and YPP is ready to lead with vision, serve with humility, and rise with the people.
🗳️ To serve is to lead. To lead is to love the people.
