
YPP 27th NWC Meeting: Resolutions on Anambra Guber, Membership Drive & Security
COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE 27TH NATIONAL WORKING COMMITTEE (NWC) MEETING WITH THE THEME “THE POWER OF TEAM WORK” HELD ON THURSDAY, 10TH JULY 2025 AT THE NATIONAL SECRETARIAT, ABUJA
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) held its 27th regular meeting at the National Secretariat, Abuja, on Thursday, 10th July 2025, under the theme “The Power of Team Work.” After extensive deliberations on key issues affecting the party and the nation, the following resolutions were reached:
- The NWC expressed its deep satisfaction with the report presented by the South Eastern Zonal Chairman, particularly on progress made with respect to the campaign strategy in Anambra State. The Committee reemphasized the imperative for total and unalloyed support for the gubernatorial candidate of the party in Anambra State, Sir Paul Chukwuma.
- The NWC ratified the harmonized 23-member list of the Imo State Executive Council, approving all newly constituted officers in acting capacities, except those who emerged through the congress. This move aims to promote inclusivity and ensure operational harmony in the state chapter.
- In line with the party’s internal governance framework, the Zamfara State Executive Committee was dissolved, and a caretaker committee has been constituted to oversee the affairs of the party pending the conduct of a proper state congress.
The members of the caretaker committee are as follows:
a) Amb. Adamu Haruna Tsafe – Chairman
b) Nasiru Gidado – Secretary
c) Sanusi Sani – Youth Leader
d) Usman Ahmad – Organizing Secretary
e) Sanusi Muhammad – Publicity Secretary
f) Haulatu Umar – Women Leader
g) Surajo Muhammad – Welfare Officer
h) Ibrahim Sabo – Financial Secretary
I) Fatima Muhammad – Treasurer
j) Barr. Abdulmudallib Aliyu – Legal Advisor
k) Ahmad Liman – PWD Leader
4. To enhance party funding and foster a sense of responsibility among members, the NWC reviewed and approved a new structure for monthly membership dues as follows:
a) National Executives – ₦5,000
b) Zonal Executives – ₦3,000
c) State Executives – ₦2,000
d) Local Government Executives – ₦1,000
e) Ward Executives – ₦500
f) Other Members – ₦100
This directive is mandatory for all party members and executives across all levels and forms part of the eligibility to participate in party activities.
5. All State Chairmen are henceforth mandated to submit quarterly reports to the National Secretariat, commencing with the current quarter. Failure to comply will attract strict consequences in accordance with the provisions of the party’s constitution.
6. The NWC constituted a Strategic Committee on Membership Drive tasked with developing and implementing a nationwide membership expansion strategy within a 4-week timeframe.
7. The NWC strongly condemns the continued killing of Nigerian soldiers, especially in Niger State and calls on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rise to the challenge of his constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and property. It is imperative to restructure the nation’s security architecture, improve intelligence gathering, and properly motivate our troops who are laying down their lives daily to safeguard the nation.
In conclusion, the NWC reaffirms its commitment to building a progressive, inclusive, and people oriented party. It also reiterates that unity, discipline, and teamwork remain the cornerstone for sustainable success in achieving the party’s objectives.
