Major parts of Amichi, Ekwulumili, Ezinifite, Igboukwu, Ekwulobia, Oko, Amaokpala, Awgbu, Nibo, Amawbia and Awka were shut down on Wednesday following a sensitization tour by the Candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) for the forthcoming Anambra State Governorship Election, Senator Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah and his Running Mate, Dr. Okey Ezeh. The tour which kicked off yesterday was part of activities organized by Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s Campaign Organization in preparation of YPP’s Ward to Ward campaign in the state. However, unlike other communities, a drama occurred opposite the Anambra State Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia as policemen stationed at the area made an unsuccessful attempt to stop Senator from entering Awka.
Speaking briefly after the event which witnessed massive show of solidarity by youths, traders, and elderly in all the communities visited, Senator Ubah thanked the residents for defying all odds to support his ambition. The YPP Candidate further thanked ndị Awka for trooping out en masse despite the late evening down pour to show their love for him and his party.
On why the tour was organized, the Grassroot king said that it was meant to sensitize voters ahead of his Ward to Ward campaign which shall commence soon. He further reassured ndị Anambra that YPP will champion implementation of policies that will not only better people’s welfare but will also ensure the actualization of a New Anambra that all will be proud of and urged the people to secure their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) in order for them to be able to vote for YPP on November 6.
The tour which shall continue on Thursday is first of its kind in the state as YPP remains the only party that has shown healthy relationship with the grassroots.
