
YPP ANNOUNCES RESCHEDULING OF PRIMARIES FOR 2026 FCT AREA COUNCIL ELECTIONS AND COMMENCES THE SALE OF FORMS FOR BY-ELECTIONS

The Young Progressives Party (YPP) wishes to inform all party stakeholders, aspirants, members, and the general public of the following important updates regarding the 2026 Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Councils election and upcoming by-elections:
- We have adjusted the date for the conduct of our primary elections for the 2026 FCT Area Councils election. The primaries, initially scheduled to hold on Saturday, 28th June 2025, will now take place on Monday, 30th June 2025. This adjustment is in line with our commitment to ensuring a seamless, transparent, and credible candidate selection process.
- The screening exercise for aspirants, which commenced today, Friday, 27th June 2025, will continue through Saturday, 28th June 2025. All aspirants are advised to ensure timely completion of all necessary screening procedures within the stipulated time.
- We also wish to announce the commencement of the sale of nomination forms for aspirants intending to contest in upcoming by-elections. This exercise will begin on Tuesday, 1st July 2025, and is open to all eligible party members from the affected constituencies and senatorial districts particularly the Anambra South Senatorial District.
- Furthermore, interested aspirants are to obtain their nomination forms at the YPP National Secretariat in Abuja. All guidelines and requirements for the purchase and submission of forms will be made available at the point of collection.
Conclusively, we urge all aspirants and stakeholders to comply with the new dates and procedures and to continue to uphold the values of discipline, transparency, and internal democracy that the YPP represents.
