Our Story
The Young Progressives Party (YPP) emerged as a beacon of hope in Nigeria’s political landscape during a time of widespread political disillusionment, where traditional parties were perceived to have failed in addressing the socio-economic needs of the people. The party was driven by a vision to build an egalitarian society led by mentally progressive, innovative, and young leaders without greed. The party’s history is rooted in a shared conviction that a generational shift in leadership was necessary to unlock Nigeria’s full potential and secure its rightful place in Africa.
Foundation and Guiding Principles
The Young Progressives Party (YPP) was conceived by a group of like-minded individuals who shared a common vision for a new breed of politicians and leaders dedicated to serving Nigeria.
In 2016, the YPP’s founding visionaries, led by Comrade Bishop Emmanuel Amakiri, began the journey towards creating a vibrant political platform that would redefine Nigeria’s political landscape. The party was officially registered on 7th June, 2017, in line with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) and based on social democratic principles and inclusive governance.
The party’s Core Values — Unity, Service, and Accountability — encapsulate its unwavering commitment to progress, transparency, and the improvement of the human condition through advancements in science, technology, economic development, and social organization. These values differentiate YPP from other political parties in Nigeria by placing a strong emphasis on youth empowerment, inclusive governance, and the active involvement of ordinary citizens in decision-making processes.

Our Mission
- Faced with the tragic consequences of poverty and under-development, our mission is to qualitatively transform the Nigeria economy and society. Therefore, we shall tirelessly work for:
- The enthronement of the Nigerian Youths as the prime resource of Nigeria, and the creation of a dynamic economy designed to serve the people's interest.
- The establishment of a free and democratic society, in which the powers and actions of Government are lawful, and where those in authority are held accountable to the people.
- Building a just society, which provides basic needs, ensures equal opportunities for self-development through education and gainful employment; defend the dignity of the human person; judge its strength by the condition of the weak; provide security against fear; and deliver the masses from the tyranny of abject poverty, oppression and abuse of power.
